The Reality Slap: Finding Peace and Fulfillment When Life Hurts:
I am currently reading another one of Russ Harris’ great books called The Reality Slap: Finding Peace and Fulfillment When Life Hurts. This is a great self-help book based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
In the pages of this book Harris outlines a strategy to help people deal with any sort of “reality gap” (the gap between the reality we’ve got and the reality we want). Whether your “reality gap” comes in the form of divorce, death, disability, illness, injury, depression, anxiety or addiction, there are four steps that can help you find peace and fulfillment.
These steps are:
1. Hold yourself kindly.
2. Drop the anchor.
3. Take a stand.
4. Find the treasure.
I’ll be sharing more about these four steps over the next few weeks. In the mean time feel free to pick up your own copy of the book and follow along. Available through Amazon.com. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments.
